The Process

  • Please remove makeup close to the eye prior to the application process. Use a mild, oil-free cleanser if possibe. If you don’t have time, don’t stress, we can do it for you in salon.
  • Do not apply face creams or sunblock in the eye area on the day of your appointment if possible. The oil found in many moisturizers prevents eyelash adhesive from bonding to the natural eyelash and reduces the longevity of your eyelash extensions.
  • Do not apply mascara on the day of your appointment if possible. Removing mascara can be very time-consuming and any residual makeup will prevent proper application of the extensions.
  • Do not curl your lashes before your appointment. Extensions will not adhere to crimped eyelashes.
  • We begin with a consultation in order to assess your distinctive eye shape and the quality of your natural lashes before various lengths, curvatures and widths of lashes are carefully selected to create the desired look. All our technicians are highly trained and meticulous with ensuring exact symmetry with every applied lash.
  • Next you’ll lie down and get comfy! You’ll have a neck pillow to comfortably lie back on and a blanket for the cooler days. You can now lie back close your eyes and relax. We will begin by preparing your eyes and lashes, we’ll clean the area if required and we’ll place protective taping/padding to your eye area to ensure application is safe, hygienic and comfortable.
  • Once we’re fully set, the technician will get to work applying your lashes. You can choose to have a chat or just enjoy the time out!
  • Please let your technician know if you are uncomfortable at any point in time and she will adjust things to suit your needs. Please also feel free to ask any questions throughout the treatment.
  • The application process can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on the quantity and style of lashes being applied.
  • Be gentle with your new lashes, do not get them wet for the first 24 hours after application, refrain from touching or rubbing them. The golden rule is: look but don’t touch.
  • Avoid swimming, steam rooms, saunas, or extreme heat for 48 hours after application.
  • Do not use an eyelash curler on the lash extensions or try to perm or tint them. This will break the bond on the extensions and might damage your natural lashes.
  • Do not use oil-based products (oil-based eye makeup, makeup remover, moisturizer, cleanser, sunscreen) on or near your lashes. Use products of non-oily, non-creamy formulas to remove eye makeup. Oil-based makeup products will dissolve the adhesive on the eyelash extensions and will cause your extensions to fall out sooner than expected.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes roughly when cleaning your face and avoid running water directly on your lashes.
  • Avoid sleeping face down to prevent pressing against your eyelashes, sleep on a silk pillowcase if possible.
  • Be very careful when removing makeup in the eye area. Gently go over the eye area, sweep up and away from the lash extensions.
  • Using mascara on eyelash extensions is not recommended. If you must wear mascara, only use water-based mascara, please do not use waterproof or oil-based mascara as removing this is difficult to do without damaging your natural eyelashes.
  • Keep an eyelash comb handy to straighten out any loose, stray lashes. Comb them carefully and very gently, this can be done daily or when needed.
  • Do not pull on any loose extensions or you risk plucking out your natural eyelashes. Do not attempt to remove the lash extensions yourself; allow the extensions to fall off naturally or schedule an appointment to have them professionally removed.
  • Maintain your lash extensions with regular touch-up appointments, please schedule in advance as availability can be limited. We recommend visiting for a re-fill every 3 weeks.

Faqs

Yes, appointments are required please call 9523 5331 or email us at bookings@waxed.com.au

Our eyelash extensions are applied individually, one by one, 1mm away from the eyelid, never directly on the skin, to your natural eyelashes using a medical-grade formaldehyde-free adhesive.

Yes, although it’s ideal to remove your existing lashes (to avoid mixing different kinds of lashes, styles and adhesives) and start again we understand that’s not always what our clients want, nor is it economical. Therefore we will perform re-fills on lashes that were originally applied at other salons.

Eyelash extensions last 2-5 weeks on average depending on a number of factors such as aftercare, hair quality, weather, health, hormonal changes and stress levels, etc.

Our lash extensions range from 8mm to 15mm in length, and 0.08mm to 0.20mm in thickness.

The procedure can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the type, quantity and style of lashes being applied.

No, eyelash extensions are painless. Most clients feel comfortable enough to fall asleep during the procedure. We make you as comfortable as possible at Lovers of the Lash by providing pillows/blankets and a comfy bed to lie on, if at any stage however you become uncomfortable please just let your technician know and we’ll make adjustments.

Please arrive with no makeup on or around the eye area. When removing makeup around the eyes, use a mild cleanser and avoid using moisturizers, sunscreen, and removers that have oil-based formulas. Lashes must be clean for the adhesive to bond properly. Please see The Process (link through) for more information relating to before, during and after your treatment.

We recommend removing your contact lenses before lash application. Eyes may feel dry and irritated with contact lenses kept in during lash application since your eyes must be kept closed for the entirety of the appointment (~1 hour).

Do not get the extensions wet for the first 24 hours after your appointment, keep out of any steam rooms/saunas/swimming pools to give the adhesive sufficient time to bond to the natural lash. Avoid vigorous rubbing of the eyes or tugging at your lashes at all times. Do not use oil-based makeup or makeup removers. Please see The Process (link through) for more information relating to before, during and after your treatment.

We do not recommend wearing mascara since it is very difficult to remove from the extensions without pulling at your natural eyelashes, however, if you feel the need to wear mascara please only wear oil free, non-waterproof mascara and in general please use oil-free cosmetics. When removing makeup close to the eye area while wearing eyelash extensions please choose an oil free remover and do not rub to remove.

No, an eyelash curler will break the bond on your extensions and will damage your natural eyelashes.

No, as long as you refrain from rubbing your eyes or tugging at the extensions you will not lose your own lashes anymore than you would naturally. Please see The Process (link through) for more information relating to before, during and after your treatment.

We only use medical-grade adhesive solely made for professional eyelash extensions.

Please email bookings@waxed.com.au and we’ll get back to you ASAP! Thanks.

Lash Facts

  • The average person has 90-200 natural lashes per eye on the upper lid & about half of the qty of the upper lid on the lower lid

  • Healthy eyelashes fall out every day. Most people lose 1-4 natural eyelashes per day.

  • Animals shed their winter coats & so do we! Expect more loss of natural lashes in spring but don’t worry they’ll come back!

  • The average persons eyelashes grow as long as 10mm. However, the record holder of the longest lashes in the world are 6.4 cm long!

  • Temperature changes in general can affect the lost of lashes

  • Hormonal changes and your general health and wellness can also affect your lash loss and cycle

  • Lashes grow in three periods. The anagen phase (active growth period), the catagen phase (transitional period), and the telogen phase (resting period).

  • At any given time, 90% of your lashes are in the active growth stage where they grow about .16 millimeters a day.

  • Our eyelashes begin growing before we are born. Science claims that our eyelashes start growing when we are 7-8 weeks along in the womb.

  • Eyelashes are made up of only two things: water and keratin; to be specific, 97% keratin and only 3% water. Keratin is a protein that’s common in hair, skin, and nails, and natural silk!

  • Only mammals grow eyelashes. (That’s why people say they feel like a “Lizard” without their lash extensions!)

  • Eyelashes are a part of your body for a purpose. They protect your eyes from sunlight, dust, and sweat.

  • It's normal for your regular lashes to be longer and/or fuller on one side: They're never twins, just sisters! This goes for brows too.

  • The average life cycle for an eyelash can be up to 200 days! That might not seem like an awful long time until you remember that the typical hair on your scalp only averages around 135 days.

  • Eyelashes have their own glands. They’re called Moll and Zeis, they release substances that keep your eyes from drying up & help prevent bacterial growth. Don’t worry, lash extensions won’t stop your glands from working!

  • Vitamins and nutrients can contribute toward hair, and eyelash, health and growth.
